Balloons Over Bozeman

Imagine...it's like floating without water, flying without noise. The buildings get smaller, the clouds get closer, and your cares disappear as you view the earth from a serene and beautiful place. Nothing compares to a hot-air balloon ride. Many of our passengers have waited their entire lives for this experience.

Our flights are $185 per person for a one-hour ride. Afterwards, enjoy a champagne toast (or sparkling cider) and post-fight celebration.

Questions about Balloons Over Bozeman

Where do we fly?
Our flights originate within a few miles of downtown Bozeman, Montana, located 90 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.

Part of the thrill of ballooning is the new route every time we fly--the winds determine where we will take off and land. Our chase crew maintains radio contact and meets us when we land.

We will talk to you the evening before your flight about where and what time we will meet.

When do we fly?
Most flights take place just after sunrise. We do not fly when there is snow on the ground, so our season runs approximately early May through late September--please call to find out more. We generally fly Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer. If your group includes four or more people, you can request a special day.

How long is a flight?
Flights last about one hour, but please allow three hours for the total experience. We know you will enjoy watching the balloon inflate (you can help our crew if you wish!) After we land, join us for an aviator's toast and ceremony and post-flight snacks.

How many people can fly?
We can carry eight people at one time, plus the pilot.

Singles, couples, groups and families are welcome. On rare occasions, a flight may be canceled if we have not met our minimum number of passengers.

If you have a larger group than eight, we can arrange to fly members of the group for a flight of less than one hour, and then switch passengers. Please call us to discuss a larger group. It's fun!

What should I bring?
The temperature in the balloon is virtually the same as it is on the ground--maybe even a few degrees warmer. As with all Montana activities, it is best to dress in layers! Long pants are advisable, regardless of temperature, though shorts are OK. Do not wear high heels, clogs or sandals.  Be sure to bring your camera and/or video equipment to preserve the memories of a lifetime. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in or around the balloon!

Age and physical requirements
While there is no specific age limit for passengers, we have found that young children (5 and under) are often frightened by the noise of the propane burners and cannot see over the rim of the basket.

Passengers must be able to climb into and out of the basket with little assistance and be able to stand for at least one hour. If you have any questions, please ask!

If space permits, members of your party who are not flying may be able to ride in our chase vehicle.

Price
A balloon flight is $185 per person. We have a two-week cancellation policy, which we will also explain on the phone when you reserve a flight.

Scheduling your ride
Reservations are required--in some cases, dates are scheduled weeks in advance; at other times, you may be able to fly the next day after you call. During peak season, it will be easier to book a flight if you can go on a weekday rather than the weekend.

If your balloon flight is canceled due to weather conditions, we will contact you to reschedule your ride.

Gift certificates and special events
Gift certificates are available any time of the year. Though we can plan a flight to coincide with a special event (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) please bear in mind that weather constraints determine our ballooning schedule.

About our business
Our pilot is FAA-certified with 20 years of flying experience and has logged hundreds of hours in the air. We are fully insured and proudly boast a perfect safety record.

We are members of the Balloon Federation of America.
